Forces for Good Forces for Good programmes offer support and guidance to ex-servicemen and women who are experiencing difficulties in adjusting to a new life as a civilian. They are particularly relevant for ex-servicemen and women who are experiencing homelessness, housing problems, unemployment , substance misuse problems, relationship difficulties, mental health problems including PTSD ( post-traumatic stress disorder). In our experience, Veterans are notoriously bad at asking for help and may view survival ‘on the streets’ or when experiencing acute adversity as a continuation of the field exercises or combat missions that they took part in whilst on active service. Many demonstrate a highly developed sense of pride and a stubborn determination not to become viewed as a burden on society. It’s therefore not surprising that civilian orientated support services find it difficult to engage and sustain meaningful interventions with ex-forces personnel. _________________________________________________________________ We do what we do well because we care and with thanks to our supporters

There are three main components to a Forces for Good programme 2. Wrap Around Support. We will offer each individual a 'wrap around' support plan, which addresses housing, health (physical & mental), benefits, support networks, training and employment. Our approach is, where necessary, to refer and chaperone each individual to ensure that their housing needs are met, they are registered with Job Centre Plus for benefits, they are registered with a GP, and, if appropriate, they are referred and accompanied to Drug/Alcohol services. We will help them to access training and engage them in jobsearch activities, building up their confidence and helping them to help themselves. 3. Creating training, volunteering and employment opportunities. Participants are offered a range of opportunities to learn and make a positive contribution. Many of the people we work with go on to volunteer and retrain. We can offer them new roles including mentoring and group work, linked to training pathways that can lead to paid employment. ____________________________________________________________________________
